Mr Morgan has spent his career on a small number of conditions — prolapse, incontinence, menstrual disorders and keyhole surgery — rather than covering everything gynaecology contains. For an operation, that narrowness is the thing worth having.

Training
Mr Morgan undertook his specialist training in women's health in the Mid-Trent region, working at Nottingham Queen's Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital, now together as Nottingham University Hospitals.
He gained membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and was later elected a Fellow of the College.
Consultant Gynaecologist since 2000, urogynaecology since 2012.
What he treats
Three areas, consistently: gynaecology as a consultant, laparoscopic keyhole surgery, and urogynaecology — meaning prolapse and urinary incontinence.
In practice that means complex prolapse repair including vault prolapse and repeat surgery, incontinence surgery, keyhole treatment of endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain, endometrial ablation for heavy bleeding, removal of benign ovarian cysts, and laparoscopic reversal of sterilisation.
He works in the private sector and deals with the major medical insurers, including BUPA, AXA PPP and WPA. Self-pay patients are welcome and costs are confirmed in writing before anything is booked.
Teaching
Mr Morgan is a former tutor at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and co-organised and taught the British Armed Forces course in emergency obstetrics and gynaecology for military surgeons — a module run twice yearly in Birmingham, where he also taught on the War Surgery course.
He has run equivalent courses for NATO Reserve Forces in Latvia and Belgium, and lectured at teaching hospitals in Greece, Sudan and Ghana. He holds the rank of Major in the Army Reserve.
Voluntary work
Much of Mr Morgan's voluntary work follows from a long-standing interest in reducing maternal mortality in developing countries. He is a member of the Ghana Doctors and Dentists Association, a UK-based body carrying out healthcare work in Ghana, where his role relates directly to reducing maternal deaths.
